Parliamentary Committee head: Control over outdoor advertising in Azerbaijan should be intensified

Executive authorities should intensify their control over outdoor advertising in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Culture Committee Chairman Nizami Jafarov said.

"Executive powers of regions, especially first deputy executive power heads, should simultaneously deal with humanitarian issues and control the texts of advertisements in the regions, technical design, as well as spelling," Jafarov said.

MPs have repeatedly observed spelling and grammatical mistakes in outdoor advertising.
"If there is a threat to the native language in the regions, executive authorities should keep it under control because responsibility for these issues rests with them," he stressed.
Jafarov said this will help to monitor the state of the language.

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev addressing the annual meeting of the ANAS stressed the importance of protecting the Azerbaijani language from foreign influence.
