Transport Ministry: Buildings preventing road expansion in Azerbaijan to be demolished

Buildings preventing road expansion during road projects will be demolished, Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said on Tuesday.

The buildings will be demolished in accordance with the parameters envisaged for individual road projects.

"This concerns only demolition under the projects and does not apply to other buildings," Panahov said. Owners of buildings demolished in the past few years have been compensated.

Demolition of illegal buildings in the rail safety zone by the Transport Ministry will be determined after specific decisions are made regarding the relevant concerns, Panahov said.

"Following the final decision, the manner in which the project will be carried out will be determined," Panahov said.
