Academician Abel Maharramov: The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is of great importance

"As a matter of fact, all history of mankind represents intercultural dialogue. However, for modern culture - dialogue is more important question," the rector of the Baku State University, MP, academician Abel Maharramov said, sharing his views on the World Forum forthcoming in Baku on intercultural dialogue.

"Dialogue assumes interaction of subjects equal in rights. Intercultural dialogue, acting as the reconciliatory factor, creates preconditions for prevention of conflicts, wars and confirmation of mutual respect".

"According to German philosopher Herder, disconnection of culture can lead to its destruction. In terms of globalization, integration of cultures puts forward threat of loss of individuality as an actual problem".

"From this point of view, the Baku World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is of great importance. It will allow showing to the world the processes occurring in our country, and also culture, peaceful character and progressiveness of our people".

"During the last years, with direct participation and support of the president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, a number of actions for intercultural dialogue were arranged in our country. Rise of the international authority of Azerbaijan promoted that it has got the status of country with cross cultures".
