Azerbaijan, Germany discuss prospects for cooperation between police authorities

Azerbaijan and Germany’s police authorities discussed the prospects for cooperation. Deputy Interior Minister, Police Lt. Gen. Vilayat Eyvazov met with a delegation headed by German Federal Criminal Police Office President Jörg Ziercke on Monday, who is on a visit to our country, the Interior Ministry reported.

Welcoming the guests on behalf of the Interior Minister Colonel General Ramil Usubov, Eyvazov told Ziercke about the difficult but honorable path that our country passed after gaining independence. Among the discussed topics were the Interior Ministry’s main activities and functions, and a detailed account of the crime situation.

Commenting that democratization and transformation processes also touched the Interior Ministry, Eyvazov stressed that our country is merging into Europe; the country adopted new laws based on democratic principles which govern police activity. Several developed countries, international organizations, including German experts play an important role in this change.

"We have good cooperation with similar structures in many European countries, which fosters our interest in strengthening such ties with the Federal Interior Ministry of Germany," he said.

Ziercke expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and detailed information and said that he will make efforts to further strengthen relations between Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry and the German Federal Criminal Police Office.
