"Accident in Japan will not influence the Azerbaijan’s radiation background:

"Control Points for Azerbaijan’s radiation background are active", Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov said answering the question about impact of Japan’s accident on Azerbaijan’s radiation background.

He said the accident in Japan would not influence the Azerbaijan’s radiation background. However, the radiation background in the country is under the control: "The radiation background in the country is not controlled by only local apparatus, but also more than 6 stations which constructed by IAEA in the borders of Azerbaijan with neighbour countries, using the Azerbaijan’s nuclear technologies".

Minister noted that, the radiation background in Azerbaijan is changed within the norm: "The natural radiation background in the separate regions of Azerbaijan is different. This index changes from 10 units to 26 units. The indexes in some places are below the natural radiation".
