Supervisors used tear gas in Azerbaijani court

Baku Court of Grave Crimes completed the hearing on the case of the persons accused of robbery.

The public prosecutor addressed the hearing. He demanded 14-year imprisonment for Aziz Mammadov, 12-year imprisonment for Shamil Babayev and 10-year imprisonment for Niyameddin Rustamov. The defendants and their relatives protested against the public prosecutor. This caused a scandal in the hearing.

The defendants attempted to hurt themselves. The court supervisors used tear gas to ensure their security. Break was announced at the hearing.

Following the break, the judge declared the judgment. According to the judgment, Mammadov was sentenced to 12 years in jail, Babayev to 9 years, Rustamov to 8 years.

They had faced charges under article 181 (robbery) of the Criminal Code.
