Azerbaijani Government to take measures for MA and Postgraduate applicants’ draft deferment

"We are concerned about the draft deferment problem of the Master of Arts and Postgraduate applicants. The government will take measures soon to solve this problem", said Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s Science and Education Committee, Rector of the Baku State University Abel Maharramov, APA reports.

He said the students of the Bachelors and Master of Arts programs, as well as postgraduate were not drafted earlier, but now only bachelors are not called up.

"We consider that it would be better for the students of the MA and postgraduate programs also not to be drafted. It will contribute to the development of sciences. When the students return from army they try to get distance education, which doesn’t give them opportunities to succeed. I will make official statement on this issue and send its text to the relevant government organizations. I have already sent it to the parliament. I consider that if this issue is reviewed again it will contribute to the development of education and sciences in Azerbaijan".

Maharramov said they were working to realize draft deferment of the MA and postgraduate students this year.
