Chamber of Auditors of Azerbaijan reveals serious corruption cases in audit activities

Today, a seminar on “Conduction of audit in municipalities and audit policy of European Commission: lessons of crisis” was held in Baku, by the initiative of Chamber of Auditors.

The chamber leadership has brought serious accusations against the persons conducting audit in municipalities.

Chamber’s spokesman Maarif Mammadov spoke about "quality of audit in municipalities" and noted that there were shortcomings in this sphere: "According to observations, some group of auditors conduct the audit in municipalities. Some auditors approach their work irresponsibly".

According to him, one of the violations: an auditor sign contract with municipality to conduct audit on its activity in any period. After audit, another auditor conducts audit and comes to a different conclusion.

He says criminal case has been launched on audit control conducted at Khatai municipality: "The chamber worries about it".

He called the auditors to obey rules of professional ethics.
