President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva familiarize themselves with ongoing improvement and construction works around State Flag Square - PHOTOS

On Wednesday, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized themselves with the ongoing improvement and construction works around the State Flag Square.

The state flag was raised at this square for the first time on September 1, 2010. On November 9, 2010, during the ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Flag, marked for the first time in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev inspected the State Flag Museum and gave instructions on the continuation of construction works around the Flag Square.

During the meeting on socio-economic development of Baku and its settlements held on March 9, President Ilham Aliyev called the Flag Square the symbol of Azerbaijan's independence. The Head of State added this project was paid great attention.

President Ilham Aliyev also touched upon the ongoing construction and improvement works around the State Flag Square. The Head of State noted works were continuing in the 60-ha territory around the Square to build parks, boulevard, and place for having rest. The President also expressed hope the project would be completed by the end of this year. President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the works being done around the State Square.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse enjoyed panoramic view of the city. Then, head of state gave relevant instructions.
