Azerbaijan to adopt state aviation security program

16 March 2011 [14:59] - TODAY.AZ
Aircrafts used by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) meet international standards, Azerbaijani State Civil Aviation Administration Chief Arif Mammadov told journalists.

AZAL has acquired four Airbus aircrafts recently, he added. Two Boeing-767 aircrafts are expected to arrive soon, Mammadov said.

Today, only Turan airlines use Russian aircrafts in Azerbaijan. However, the use of these aircrafts will be suspended in the future, he added.

He stressed that the state aviation safety program is being developed. The document will be adopted soon.

Together with consultants from the United States, the country will align its aviation security documents with international standards. This process will end by late 2011, Mammadov said.
