WHO Regional Director for Europe to visit Azerbaijan

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Director for Europe Dr. Zsuzsanna Jakab will visit Azerbaijan on Feb. 28, the Azerbaijani Health Ministry said.

WHO Regional Office for Europe, which unites 53 countries, holds its sessions annually in September. The sessions, which are attended by the states of the European continent and the CIS countries, besides the health ministers of these countries are also attended by senior representatives of international organizations.

The organization’s 59th session held in September 2009 in Copenhagen, the leadership of WHO Regional Office for Europe appealed to Azerbaijan to hold the 61th session of the Regional Committee on Sep.12-15 in Baku. Azerbaijan has assumed an obligation to host this event.

During Zsuzsanna Jakab’s visit to Azerbaijan, which will run from Feb.28 to March 2, it is envisaged to sign a memorandum of understanding on the forthcoming session in Baku.

The regional director will hold a meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers, in various UN structures represented in our country, as well as will visit the exemplary medical facilities.
