"Azerbaijan will announce a plan for admitting to foreign universities through the state line soon. The medical, engineering, agrarian, information and communication technologies, as well as biotechnology, genetics will be the priority areas," Deputy Minister of Education Elmar Gasimov told media. He said that the priorities, necessary for the development of Azerbaijan's economy, have been determined.

He said that a delegation from Germany will arrive in Azerbaijan this week. It will choose students wishing to continue their education at universities in Germany.

The reception of documents has already been completed. Roughly 100 applications have been submitted. Deputy minister also said that students, having medical and engineering specialties will mainly go to Germany this year.

"Moreover, the negotiations are being held with the Baltic countries - Lithuania and Latvia for the Azerbaijani students to continue their education in these countries," he said.

The state program for education of Azerbaijani youth abroad covers 2007-2015. Up to 5,000 students will get education through the state line at foreign universities until 2015. At present, up to 10,000 Azerbaijanis study abroad, of which 500 - through the state program.
