Azerbaijani traffic police versus banned car horns

01 February 2011 [12:15] - TODAY.AZ
Baku traffic police has started intensified fight against using banned motor signals on the capital's roads.
Banned sound signals have a negative impact on the health of the capital's residents, causing nervous disorders. Violators of public order will be severely punished, Baku State Traffic Police Department spokesman Vagif Asadov told Trend.

Asadov said that drivers making illegal modifications to cars in the capital's territory in the form of muffler, high-tone sirens and music signals, as well as their pointless use, cause serious harm to public health and safety.

Baku State Traffic Police Department launched urgent measures to fight these violations, he said.

Asadov said that protocols were drawn up towards 300 drivers in accordance with Article 155.7 of the Code of Administrative Violations and sent to court over six months of 2010.

In January this year 34 drivers were detained for using banned signals, Asadov said.

According to him, the signals were seized by the court's decision, and the drivers were fined in the amount of 60 manat. According to him, terms of using sound signals are reflected in Articles 73 (Using of siren and external lighting devices by the driver) and 74 (Applying special signals) of the "Law on Road Traffic".

Asadov urged drivers not to use banned signals, and citizens to inform the traffic police on such cases.
