Azerbaijan's Tourism Ministry calls on tourism agencies not to organize trips to Egypt

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism recommended local tourist companies not to organize tourist trips to Egypt in connection with the riots occurred in the country, the ministry said.

"The Ministry recommends local tourism companies to temporarily suspend the trips to Egypt both individually and groups," a statement said.

At present, there are no Azerbaijani tourists in Egypt, the head of the Azerbaijani Association of Tourism Nahid Bagirov told Trend.

The Association conducted a poll among tourism companies. It was revealed that there are no Azerbaijani tourists in Egypt," Bagirov said.

Roughly 70 Azerbaijani citizens live and study in Egypt.

The plane with Azerbaijani citizens evacuated from Egypt arrived at the Heydar Aliyev international airport on Monday morning, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) told Trend.

AZAL aircraft transported roughly 60 Azerbaijani citizens and the body of the deceased employee of the Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt Nijat Hojayev from Cairo. The plane flew from Baku on Sunday afternoon, AZAL told Trend earlier.

President Ilham Aliyev instructed the relevant bodies to urgently evacuate Azerbaiajni citizens temporarily living and studying in Egypt due to the recent events in the country, official representative of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry Elkhan Polukhov said earlier.
