The 87th session of International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Committee was held on May 12-21 in London.

The event brought
together representatives from 168 member countries and various
international organizations.
The session focused on a wide range of
issues including measures to enhance maritime security, new ship
construction standards, ship design and equipment, flag state
implementation, safety of navigation, dangerous goods, solid cargoes and
containers, stability, load lines and fishing safety vessel, piracy and
armed robbery against ships and general cargo ship safety.
Chief of
Azerbaijan State Marine Administration Gudrat Gurbanov attended the
session. On the sidelines of the event, Gurbanov held several
meetings with his counterparts during which he highlighted Azerbaijan`s
achievements in the field of maritime transport. They also exchanged
views on the bilateral cooperation in maritime security.
