"Population in disaster zone to be provided with medical and psychological assistance"

The Azerbaijani Health Ministry will send brigades to provide medical and psychological to population of the regions affected by the natural disaster, Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev told journalists today.
Shiraliyev said the psychologists will examine the people's psychological situation and take the needed measures.  

He said that the doctors provide appropriate assistance to those who apply for medical service in the disaster zone. Shiraliyev said about 17 children were born in the displaced families and all of them are healthy. No infectious disease or danger of epidemics revealed in the disaster zones and the situation is under control, he said.

In recent weeks, floods occurred in 40 districts of Azerbaijan due to the rise of the Kur River. As a result of the disaster, about 20,000 houses were flooded, more than 300 destroyed, 2,000 became unsafe and 50,000 hectares of cultivated land left under water.
