
On Friday, the 5th Republican Labor Fair "Graduate 2010" was held at the Azerbaijan State Economic University. More than 70 holdings, companies, banks and governmental bodies proposed jobs to graduates of more than 20 universities.
The purpose of the fair, held with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and under the coordination of the Ministry of Education is to help solving the problems of youth employment, studying or have graduated from higher educational institutions. In 2006 jobs were represented only by the banking sector.
Financial, industrial, tourist, transport companies and organizations, as well as companies in the services sector, telecommunications, healthcare, intellectual, business and others participated in the fair set up in honor of the 80-th anniversary of the university.
Companies from Georgia, Turkey and Russia also provided their vacancies. Azerbaijani citizens who have graduated from universities in Turkey, sent questionnaires to the organizing committee and the committee, in its turn, resent them to companies participating in employment fairs.
Thanks to the fairs conducted by the university, over 1,500 graduates were provided with jobs, and 1,000 graduates have been employed under the contract.
Minister of Education Misir Mardanov said that the tradition of such event was put by the university's leadership. Minister said that the holding of the fair is one of the innovations in the education system of Azerbaijan. Stressing the importance of this event as a way of promoting higher education, minister said that all necessary conditions are created for graduates looking for jobs. Minister expressed satisfaction with the level of knowledge of students and pupils, noting that this figure will increase in future.
