
The World Food Program is interested in continuation of the activity of
its office in Azerbaijan, the Regional Director of the United Nations
World Food Program Dali Balqassemi said during his meeting with Ali
Hasanov, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the State Committee for
Refugees and IDPs and Republic Commission on International Humanitarian
Assistance.
Ali Hasanov said World Food Program leads among other international
humanitarian organizations in Azerbaijan for the continuation of its
activity and the volume of aid it provides to the country. Hasanov spoke of the ongoing processes in the region, including the
Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and position of
international organizations on the problem.
Hasanov also briefed Dali Balqassemi on President Ilham Aliyev's care
for problems of refugees and IDPs in the country. He praised the activity of the World Food Program's office in Baku.
Dali Balqassemi stressed the role of the Azerbaijani leadership in
accomplishments achieved in the sphere of cooperation. He hailed the Azerbaijani government's work to improve the living
conditions of refugees and IPDs.
The sides also discussed the future status and role of the World Food
Program. Head of the Organization's office in Azerbaijan Fuad Huseynov was
present in the meeting.
