Residents of several villages in disaster area return home in Azerbaijan

The residents of Azadkend, Polad Togayi, Sarkhanbayli, Hajibabir, Deshdeli, Bala Hashimkhanli and Yakha Dellek villages of Sabirabad region, who were settled in the tents, are returning home.

The decision came at a meeting held with the participation of the government representatives in the crisis center set up to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster as a result of flooding of the Kura. Instructions were given at the meeting to restore electricity, water supply and infrastructure of the abovementioned villages.

Deputy head of Sabirabad region executive office, chairman of the region’s emergency commission Vafadar Bagirov said the residents are returning home by buses. The residents of the abovementioned villages were evacuated as there was a threat of flooding in the Kura.

A meeting has been held today in the crisis center with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, deputy ministers, head of Sabirabad region executive office Heydar Abbasov, local representatives of the villages of Sabirabad region. The current situation has been discussed at the meeting.
