The Azerbaijani Parliament proposed opening special accounts to assist the population affected by the flood in the Kura River.

"It needs to open an account to assist the populations affected by the natural disaster, and I am ready to transfer 500 manat to it," said MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev at the parliamentary session.
Hasanguliyev called on MPs to support this proposal. MP Iqbal Agazadeh invited colleagues to transfer 15-day salary to the account.
"I think that MPs should visit the region affected by the disaster. The current situation should be studied on the scene. A relevant report must be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers after the completion of the work to eliminate consequences of the disaster," said Agazadeh.
In recent days, floods occurred in 40 districts of Azerbaijan due to rise in Kur River and rainfalls. As a result of the disaster, about 20,000 houses were flooded, more than 300 destroyed, 2,000 became unsafe, 50,000 hectares of cultivated land left under water.
Currently one meter drop is recorded in the level of Kur River in certain territories, Azerbaijani minister of emergency situations Kamaladdin Heydarov briefed the media.
"We are already out of critical situation. Now works are carried out to restore the dams and will be completed within two or three days," he said. Necessary work is carried out to ensure normal living conditions of the evacuated population of nine villages, said Heydarov.
