
In the ancient part of "Old city" in Baku on the territory of restored and reconstructed Small caravanserai "Art Garden" opened. The event was attended by prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani public, science, culture and guests of the capital.
"The opening of "Art Garden" is another fact of the state's care to preserve the national heritage mills, its history and culture. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the restoration of ancient monuments and folk craftsmen, who put their work here. We hope that the "Art Garden" will be another asset not only for our people but also guests of the country will be able to know our heritage - said at the opening Mikayil Jabbarov, head of administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Old City".
In the 12 century on the territory of the Small caravanserai spiritual madrasas located, in the 15-16 centuries the complex was used as a caravanserai. For many years it was in ruins and now, finally, found a second life.
The first exhibition in "Art Garden" was the works of the folk artist Elmira Abbasli, who presented a collection of old characters and scenes from the life of Baku on 19 century "Images of Old Baku - Old city".
At the opening also the works of other crafts folk art were presented, Azeri folk songs sounded.
State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Old City" is an ancient monument of world urban development, included in UNESCO World Heritage List.
