Sabirabad region of Azerbaijan has become completely cut off from Shirvan region as a result of floods in the Kura River.

The rescuers started evacuation of residents of nine villages because of continuous raise of water level in the river. The people of two villages were evacuated on May 7. A bridge over Baku-Horadiz railway is expected to be removed. 18-year old resident of Sabirabad region Aghagasim Israfilov went missing during a flood. Zalgaragat, Alembeyli and Arhanbeyli villages of the region also face flood threat.
The fuel and gas pumping stations in Sabirabad were already flooded, leaving fuel and gas tanks under the water. Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations acontinue the rescue operations. Local residents left homeless as a result of floods were provided with more than 1,000 tents.
