Level of Kura river rises in Azerbaijan's Neftchala region, seven settlements flooded

The level of the Kura River has risen in
Neftchala region, chairman of the region’s emergencies commission
Dilaver Aliyev said. He said seven settlements had been flooded. He noted that pumps had been installed in the yards to prevent it.
“Compared with January, the level of water in the Kura increased by
92cm. All necessary measures have been taken. No house collapsed, but
houses along the river are filled with ground water. 200 yards have
been filled with water,” he said.
Department chief of Neftchala region executive office Anar Jafarov said
the level of the Kura River had risen as a result of the rain lasting
for 2-3 days.
“The rain is above the norm. The people also help to prevent it.
Departments, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are
trying to absorb the water,” he said.
