Baku Oxford School and bmi, British Midland International have launched an essay competition amongst high school students of Baku.

The competition will give students the exclusive chance to compete for two round trip tickets to London from Baku, to explore university campuses in the UK or to make the official relocation trip there once university term starts in Autumn. The students of the following high schools will participate in the competition which is scheduled to take place on the 17th April: Baku Oxford School, school #23, school #160, and Baku European Lyceum.
Each high school will be presented at the competition by 10 students. These 10 students will be selected by each individual school. Overall, it is expected that 60 students will enter the competition and be present on the day. The pressure will be at its highest on the 17th as students will be expected to write an essay in English on a secret topic which will be given by bmi. There will also be a time limit to the duration of the exercise. The lucky winner of the competition will be announced before the 10th of May and shall find him/herself jet setting to check out university life in the UK.
Commenting on the competition initiative, Country Sales Manager for bmi in Azerbaijan, Sabina Ismayilova, said, “bmi is excited to be given the opportunity to support an education initiative in Baku while at the same time making it fun and creative for students. Education is not just about science and knowledge, but also about bridging cultures, and for that reason alone bmi is happy to be a part of it in any way we can, big or small”.
The General Manager of Baku Oxford School, Aygun Mammadova, noted: “Baku-Oxford School is very happy to host the essay competition from bmi, greats all participants and hopes this event will raise the interest of students to different countries and cultures “.
