Arrested Azerbaijani bloggers transferred from Baku detention facility to jail

Imprisoned bloggers Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli have been transferred from Baku detention facility to the jail, Adnan Hajizadeh's lawyer Isakhan Ashurov said.

He said Adnan Hajizadeh had been transferred to jail #14 and Emin Milli to Khelej jail in Salyan region.

Bloggers Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli were detained after the incident in Lebanese restaurant in Azerbaijan’s capital on July 8, 2009.

They faced charges under articles 127.2.3 (deliberately inflicting less serious bodily harm) and 221.2.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.

On Nov. 11, 2009, Sabail district court sentenced Emin Milli to two years and six months, Adnan Hajizadeh to two years in jail.

Baku Appeals Court upheld the decision of Sabail district court.
