International seminar on logistics held in the National Academy of Aviation in Azerbaijan - PHOTOS

Seminar was organized by the National Academy of Aviation in Azerbaijan and International Logistics Center of State University - Higher School of Economics (Russia).

The main objectives of the meeting were: the integration and coordination of scientific and educational institutions, government and business structures for the development of theory and practice of integrated logistics in the transport sector in Azerbaijan; exchange of views on the training of specialists in logistics according to international standards, the formation of scientific and methodological foundations for the development of logistics as a new scientific field, as well as the application of new logistics systems and technologies.

The seminar was opened by Vice Rector of the National Academy of Aviation in Azerbaijan, Ph.D., associate professor Adalat Samedov, who spoke about the importance of this workshop.

During the seminar the doctor of economic sciences, professor, and president of the National Logistics Association (Russia) Viktor Sergeyev made a speech on the theme "Development of a system of state educational standards for a degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management".

Also, the speech was made on the topic “The system of additional education and certification of European logistics” by doctor of economic sciences, professor, Director of International Logistics Centre, State University - Higher School of Economics (Russian Federation) Valentina Dibskaya.

The teacher of “Air Transport production” chair, deputy director of affiliate airline Silk Way “Baku Cargo Terminal” Vugar Novruzov made a presentation entitled "Transport logistics theory and practice".

Training of specialists on “logistics of transportation systems” started in 2006 in Azerbaijan in the National Academy of Aviation. During the training the specialists are taught the following subjects: transportation system; logistics transportation systems; logistics warehousing, transportation hubs and terminals; organization and technology of transportation, certification and quality assurance in transport and other items.

In the 2009-2010 academic year for the first time in Azerbaijan is planned to issue 13 Bachelors of Engineering in this specialty. The establishment of the theoretical and methodological foundations of logistics is carried out at the Department of "Air Transport production" of the National Academy of Aviation.

Long-term plans for teaching logistics are preparing a new generation of specialists, regional and international conferences on logistics, the preparation of scientific publications, doctoral students and candidates for a degree in logistics.

Taking into account the increase in the coming years of the needs of the labour market in Azerbaijan for specialists in logistics, strengthening the activities of the National Academy of Aviation in this area is of strategic importance.
