
The monitoring conducted by the State Veterinary Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture did not reveal infection with bird flu in wild birds and poultry, the veterinary service said. Monitoring began March 29.
"As part of the monitoring professionals conducted laboratory tests of samples of pathological material taken from 26 wild and 9 poultry, and blood from 1,487 poultry," the message said.
Monitoring was carried out on the Absheron peninsula, Devechi, Salyan, Agjabedi and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan, as well as in other areas of the republic.
Monitoring was held with the joint participation of specialists of veterinary services, the ministry of health, the ministry of environment and natural resources, as well as the society of hunters to prevent the bird flu.
Veterinary Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture, taking into account the possibility of infection from migratory birds, intends to continue to monitor. Next monitoring to identify the virus will be started from May 10, during the period of migratory birds.
