
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan jointly with the Baku Executive Power has completed realizing challenges set by country’s President on planting of at least 3 million trees in Baku and around the city.
Environment Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said the ministry planted trees in an area of 472,000 cubic meters, built 9 artesian wells and laid a 10.5-kilometer irrigation system.
"Since September of last year, nearly 3.12 million trees and bushes have been planted, 668,960 of which were planted via funds of executive bodies,” Bagirov said.
Azerbaijan has declared 2010 year of ecology.
