Street in Czech town to be named after Azerbaijan’s Khojaly

10 February 2010 [13:31] - TODAY.AZ
One of the streets in Lidice, a town in Czech Republic, will be named after Khojaly in commemoration of a genocide when Armenians brutally killed hundreds of civilian Azerbaijanis in the town of Khojaly.

Lidice's governor Josef Klima told the Azeri-Czech Society that Lidice and Khojaly would become sister towns after the street naming ceremony.

Elshan Nazarov, head of the Azeri-Czech Society, said they launched an initiative in 2007 to name a street in Lidice after Khojaly.

In 1942, Lidice was razed to the ground by the Nazis.
