Eight Azerbaijani crew members of the ship Mira detained in India left this country with the support of Azerbaijani embassy, Ambassador Tamerlan Garayev told APA.

He said the Azerbaijani crew members departed for Istanbul on May 23-24. The ambassador said our compatriots were sent to Istanbul of their own free will. “The crew members said they wanted to go to Istanbul to solve their payment problems. They have lawyers in Istanbul and therefore we sent them there. If they face with problems they will ask the Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Istanbul”. One of the Mira Navigation owners Ahmet Yilmaz told APA they filed lawsuit against Culborne Marine Finance bank and the Mira’s crew for hijacking the ship from Dubai to India. Ambassador Tamerlan Garayev denied reports on the lawsuit against the crew members. “If these reports were right, our compatriots couldn’t leave India”.
