Azerbaijan removed from list of Internet enemies

Azerbaijan has been removed from the list of the countries, hostile towards Internet since 2002 and therefore it was not included into the rating of countries with censorship in the Internet, prepared by the DailyBits portal, said Rufat Gulmamedov, chief of department of development of informational society of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, commenting on the yesterday's announcement of several mass media according to which DailyBits included Azerbaijan into the list of countries, which control the activity of Internet in any form, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

Indeed, official portal DailyBits prepared a list of ten countries, conducting  Internet censorship - including Pakistan, Burma, Yemen, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, China, United Arab Emirates and Iran.

With this the list in this portal ends. But Russian interpretation of the information about DailyBits rating is followed by several other countries including Azerbaijan.

The information, published by Azerbaijani mass medias is taken from Russian sources. The censorship of Internet in the group of these countries is softer, The list of the countries "Enemies of Internet" is prepared every year by the international organization "Reporters without borders".
