Over 40 servicemen died of bullying in the Azerbaijani army through a period since 2003.
7 people died in 2007, 5 in 2006, 4 in 2005, 10 in 2004, 13 in 2003 and 1 serviceman died through five months of 2008, said chairman of the organization of reserve officers Yashar Cafarli speaking at the "round table" on lawlessness in the Azerbaijani army.

"The round table" was held in the International press center by the public organization of scientific and cultural youth development.

"Cases of suicides are mostly caused by bullying", said Cafarli.

Speaking about reasons of bullying, he noted that they must lie not only in the army but also in the Azerbaijani society, where there are facts of violation of human rights and corruption.

"I do not state that the Defense Minister does not do anything. He fulfills the task on the protection of security of our country, but measures to protect legality in the armed forces are not effective", said Cafarli.
