Appeal on the fact of imprisoned journalist Mirza Sakit's humiliation sent to Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's office

Day.Az reports with reference to the Institute for Reporter Freedom and Safety that the due information was provided by lawyer Alaif Hasanov.

He said the appeal fixes the request to investigate the fact of humiliation of Azadlug newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit.

"When I heard about the humiliation of my defendant I went to the correctional facility where Mirza Sakit is held, right away. I had to wait for about three hours near the jail but was not allowed in", said Hasanov.

Sakit's second defender, Isakhan Ashurov noted that he had appealed to the penitentiary service for a meeting with the journalist.

"I will probably meet Sakit this or next week", said the defender.

Similar appeals have notably been sent to the Garadagh region prosecutor's office and Ombudsman's office.
