The number of crimes, connected with human trafficking, has risen 1.8 times, as compared to the first half of 2007 and made 244 facts in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2008.

Novosti-Azerbaijan reports with reference to the press service for the Interior Ministry that the due announcement was made at a collegiate session of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held by results of the first half of the year with participation of Minister Ramil Usubov.
218 people were brought to criminal responsibility for the said crimes in the first six months of 2008.
Of the total number of facts 113 were committed against women (which is 2.4 times higher, as compared to the same period of the last year), 113 crimes were committed by women (51.8%). The number of crimes, connected with attracting women to prostitution rose by 83 up to 185 facts.
