Head of Islamic Culture and Communications Organization (ICCO) has announced that Iran and Azerbaijan Republic will set up an independent cultural commission, IRNA reported.
In a meeting with Adalat Aliyev, deputy culture minister of Azerbaijan Republic, Mehdi Mostafavi described expansion of cultural cooperation as one of the long-term goals of the organization and said that the interests of the two countries demand the development of their cultural ties.

"With the expansion of cultural, religious and political ties, we will disappoint our enemies," he said.

Stating that the horizons for Tehran-Baku cultural cooperation are golden, Mostafavi, also a presidential advisor, further said that regular cultural relations will play a crucial role in safeguarding the two countries' cultures.

Underlining common interests, he also said that commonalities of the two countries call for amicable and deep cultural communications to pave the way for further cultural collaboration.

Expressing his organization's readiness to conclude agreements in the fields of translation and publication of books, the official said that the entity can take steps to make the two nations familiar with each other by holding cultural weeks, founding Iranian studies office, expanding library cooperation and holding religious-cultural and scientific seminars.

Aliyev, for his part, described Iran as his second home and said that the two countries will make good progress in the field in future.

"Visiting Iran is an honor for me," he said, adding that the country boasts of a rich culture which is rooted in history.

The main objective of the visit is to show goodwill for expanding ties in all fields, Aliyev concluded.
