Azerbaijan marking 133rd anniversary of National press

According to Day.Az, the day of national press is marked in the country on July 22 on the day of publishing the first newspaper Ekinchi by Hasanbey Zerdabi in 1875.

Hasanbey Zardabi played a special and important role in the history of the Azerbaijani culture, public through and spiritual development. He was dealing with theoretical problems of farming and practical issues of agriculture.

Zardabi was not only the Ekinchi editor, but also its correspondent, corrector, typist and even subscription and distribution agent. He had to do everything alone, through most other prominent art figures, including Akhundov, Shirvani and Vezirov were cooperating with the newspaper.

It should be noted that the decree of the late President and national leader of the country Heydar Aliyev of August 16 of 1998 "On measures for provision of freedom of speech, expression and information in Azerbaijan" eliminated censorship on mass media in the country.

This document promoted intensive development of mass information and defined main trends of large state program to raise their rationality.
