"New investigation on the claim of servant of policeman Vahid Imanov Nasiba Safarova, filed against former editor-in-chief of the Khalg Qazeti newspaper Makhal Ismayiloghlu, is not held at the moment", said inspector of the Absheron police department Agil Aleskerov, Day.Az reports with reference to Mediaforum.
According to the inspector, it is impossible to give details about the results of the investigation, confrontation and testimonies.
Makhal Ismayiloghlu told Mediaforum that as Safarova's claim was not confirmed during confrontation, a new version has been made up: "The new claim says as if I have cut Nasiba's hand.
Nasiba Safarova really cut her hands in early June, but it occurred as she was working in the garden", said Ismayiloghlu.
The journalist said on that day he was not in the garden, but was attending the mourning ceremony of his close relative.
Inspector Aleskerov noted that the decision will be adopted depending on the result of the investigation.
"It is now impossible to draw the final conclusion. I do not rule out another confrontation", resumed the investigator.
It should be noted that Yeni Musavat newspaper correspondent Ismayiloghlu says Safarova is a servant of Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's official Vahid Imanov. The cause for her appeal was her being beaten by Ismayiloghlu for throwing garbage in front of his gates.
He is charged under articles 221.3 (hooliganism, committed with use of a gun or objects, used as a gun) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Such crimes are punished with from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
