Has an Azerbaijani soldier, committing suicide according to papers, been killed by a sergeant in reality?

Zerkalo reports that the press conference was opened by chief of the Center of Democratic Control over the armed forces Alekper Mamedov. He noted that despite all announcements of the Defense Ministry about improvement of the state in the army on all indicators, the number of losses is not reducing. "Though, all cases of soldier's death are reduced to suicide or careless treatment of arms, it turns out that commanders and Defense Ministry have nothing to do with it, through they are primarily responsible for all cases of death and traumas", noted he.

In early June Ruhab Aghayev, resident of Pensar village of Astara, was informed about death of his son Sabail, serving in No military unit.

"Mayor Vugar Aydinov, who brought my son's body confessed that Sabail was killed  and sergeant Elshan Mamedov and soldier Rovshan Pirmamedov saw it", said Aghayev at a press conference yesterday. He noted Aydinov confessed it in the presence of deputy chief of executive powers and military commissioner of the region and aqsaqqals of the village.

According to Aghayev, his son was recruited in October of 2007 and was sent to the aforementioned N military unit. "Some time later he wrote about possible change of the place of services, that is the transfer to the front position. We had to give $500 to avoid it. I did not have this money and therefore, he was transferred to positions near Musakoy village three months following the recruitment", continued he.

After it Sabail Aghayev started to complain about the conditions of service. He wrote about it to home, spoke on mobile phone. "Each week I sent him AZN 10 to fill the account of different numbers. It is a pity I did not keep them", said Bahar Jamalova, Aghayev's aunt.

"Once I visited my son in Qazakh. I found him shoeless, all in louses. He said through eight months the soldiers had been having a bath for only twice in a room, they have equipped themselves. After it my son was taken to hospital", said Gulfira Aghayeva, Sabail's mother.

But let's return to the case of Aghayev's death. Aghayev's fellow-villager Jafar Aliyev, attending the press conference, announced that washing the body he noticed abrasions on the body. "Nothing was left of the face-the bullet hit the head. Yet there were a ground between his fingers, blood and abrasions on the body. The biggest one was in the groin area. Perhaps, he died due to the hit in this place", said he.

To define the real cause of his son's death, Aghayev came to the military unit. Aydinov was not there. "The chief of the unit talked to us. He said our son died in the result of careless treatment of a gun. Two soldiers also confirmed it. The chief of the unit said sergeant Elshan Mamedov does not serve in his unit. This and other facts make us think that our son was killed by this sergeant and the unit administration and the prosecution try to defend him", said Aghayev,

It should be noted that the Military prosecutor's office of the Qazakh-Shemkir garrisone has instituted an investigation on the case of soldier Aghayev's death. Yet, Aghayev's father is confident that  the case is led to the suicide. Therefore, he appealed to the President with a request to take control over the investigation and assist in restoration of justice.
