Inspector sentenced for bribery in Baku

The Azerbaijan Court of Grave Crimes completed a court trial on the case of inspector on urgent issues of the Baku prosecutor's office Mahir Naghiyev, reports a source from the Court.
In line with the verdict, Naghiyev is found guilty under articles 308 (abuse of powers), 311 (taking bribes for illegal actions) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 5 years.

He is prohibited to work in the prosecution system within a year.

Thus, the prosecutor demanded 8 years of imprisonment for Mahir Naghiyev.

It should be reminded that the Prosecutor General's office received an appeal of citizens Ehtiram Ahmedov and Baba Mahmudzade. According to the appeals during the inspection on the case of the said periods, the investigator misappropriated money, taken from them to put on the deposit in exchange for non-imprisonment during investigation.

Accused Natalia Sinitsina was obliged to transfer a land, belonging to her family members, on Naghiyev's name. He also owned a land in Yesamal district, belonging to Sinitsina's husband Anatoly Sinitsin, registering them on the name of his relative.

On October 2 of 2007 he was dismissed from the prosecution bodies. He was arrested on October 19 of the last year.
