ANS TV channel files claim against Yeni Musavat newspaper

Day.Az reports with reference to the radio of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety that the court hearing is scheduled for July 14.

The preliminary session was attended by plaintiff representative Sevda Meherremova and respondent representative Azer Aykhan.

The representative of the plaintiff, confirming the claim, demanded compensation for a damage, caused to business reputation of ANS.

It should be noted that the claim filing was caused by the article, published in the Yeni Musavat newspaper on May 13 of 2007 "Military Minister against vs. chief of administration". The author of the article is S.Aleskerli. The author states the alleged business relations between the leadership of the Defense Ministry and the TV channel.

The plaintiff representative demanded from Yeni Musavat newspaper AZN 50,000 and from the author AZN 10,000 as a compensation for the damage.

The respondent did not agree with the plaintiff's arguments, noting that the article does not contain anything which might cause damage to the business reputation of the company.
