According to materials, published in Czechia, the country recorded 487 same-sex marriages last year.
At the same time, the number of the same-sex marriages is higher among men as compared to women.
Of them eight couples have divorced with five of them falling on lesbians.
The law on registration of marriages, allowing same-sex marriages, came into effect in Czechia in July of 2006. Since that time 353 male and 134 female couples have concluded a marriage.
According to the statistics, in 43 cases one of the partners was a foreigner, usually, from neighbor Slovakia.
Among foreigners, marrying in Czhechia, there are also the citizens of Azerbaijan, Taiqan, Israel, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Netherlands, USA and Canada.
In formed Czechoslovakia, the same-sex marriages had been considered a crime by 1961. The law, allowing the same-sex marriages was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies in March of 2006, when the parliamentarians overcame the veto of President Vatslav Claus.
According to this law, the same-sex couples may marry officially and and enjoy a number of rights. The partners may get information about each other's health, use a number of economic rights. However, the law does not allow the same-sex couples to adopt children.
