A poll conducted by Reporters' Trade Union of Azerbaijan, showed that reporters are on the list of the lower-paid salaried workers in the country.
According to the Trade Union, the poll was conducted among 20 mass medias of Azerbaijan (2 information agencies, 1 magazine and 17 newspapers). The poll covered 100 reporters.
The respondents to the poll became reporters from printed mass medias. At the same time, their management was not involved into the poll.
By results of the poll, the average salary of mass media representatives makes up AZN 150-200. The answers: AZN 400 (one of the respondents), AZN 250 (5 people) and another 4 indicated AZN 60-70 were the exceptions.
37 respondents said they earn AZN 100, while the remaining 51 reporters indicated a figure of AZN 150-200.
Considering information on minimal consumer basket in Azerbaijan, which made up AZN 74, it is obvious that reporters' wages are not enough for daily expenses.
Moreover, 80% respondents announced that they do not have their own apartments and are hiring flats. About 10% noted that they bought flats by help of their parents.
As is reporters, the reporters, who are in need of apartments, were not able to use mortgage lending as their wages do not correspond to the lending terms.
