Temperature hits record level in Baku, Azerbaijan

Weather forecasters recorded the lowest ever temperature of 8.7?C in Baku last night (January 8), according to the Bureau of Forecasts of the Hydro-meteorological Center under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

"Temperature hit -8.7?C in Baku, which is a record indicator of frost in the city within the past 100 years. Thus, the indicator of 1935 was 8.1?C", sources from the Bureau reported.

According to the sources, the temperature recorded in the Absheron peninsula last night totaled -9.6?C, which is 8.5?C lower than the perennial norm.

Sources from the Bureau reported that temperature is expected to rise up to +5- +6?C with possible snow after January 12.
