Russian RTR taken off air in Azerbaijan

The Council said RTR was taken off air in Azerbaijan at 07:00 a.m on January 1, 2008.

Notice has been posted in the channel place that RTR was cut off in Azerbaijan by a decision of National Television and Radio Council.
Long discussions of Azerbaijani and Russian work groups of mutual transmission of national broadcasters failed to reach any agreement.

In December, 2007 Russian side refused to allow AzTV to broadcast in Russia.

After that, Azerbaijan National Television and Radio Council reconsidered the issue and passed a decision to take RTR off air in the country.
