Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev awarded for contributions to sport

The head of state is the first to receive the honored award, established by the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee Agadjan Abiyev the day before.

The new order, made in Moscow, is awarded for special contributions to propaganda of Olympic movement and development of sport. The Order will be presented both to citizens of Azerbaijan and to foreigners.

Ilham Aliyev delivered a speech before the members of the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee stressing the success of our sportsmen in the passing 2007, expanding construction of sport establishments and significant international competitions, held in Azerbaijan through the passing year.
