Arrested adviser of Nota bene newspaper petitioning for pardon

The imprisoned adviser of Nota Bene newspaper Faramaz Novruzoglu, kept in the hospital of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice, sent a petition for pardon to President Ilham Aliyev, his wife Taira Allahverdiyeva said.

She said F.Novruzoglu handed the petition for pardon due to ill health to the head of the hospital.

According to Allahverdiyeva, she met with her husband, who still feels sick, on December 23.

F.Novruzoglu was previously transferred from correctional facility No14 to the hospital of the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan due to ill health.

F.Novruzoglu is sentenced to 2.5 years imprisonment for libel and criminal insult.
