19 December 2007 [14:42] - TODAY.AZ
The Center of Enlightenment on Human Rights has prepared a report on the gender situation among lawyers in Azerbaijan.
According to Irada Javadova, head of the Center and human rights activist, it has been developed on basis of a monitoring, carried out by the officers of the Center.

"The monitoring revealed the overwhelming gender disproportion and showed the uneven roles of female and male lawyers.

Thus, the law enforcements bodies of Azerbaijan engage 98.5% of men and only 1.5% of women. The statistics is also inexpressive for female-lawyers in other spheres.

Thus, the presucution engages only one female of 101 state prosecutors. Similar situation is also observed in the Ministry of Taxes", Irada Javadova said.

She noted that the summary report will come out in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages. The report will be introduced to the community on January 10-12 of 2008.
