Ataturk commemorated in Azerbaijan

Turkey-educated Alumni Association organized a roundtable "Peace in homeland, peace in the world" in commemoration of May 19-Mustafa Kamal Ataturk’s birthday in Azerbaijan Ataturk Center.

Graduates, parliamentarians and representatives of Turkish Embassy participated at the event. The chief of the Association Cingiz Bayramov stressed the necessity of propagating Ataturk and his ideas in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani parliamentarian, head Ataturk Center Nizami Jafarov presented a report on the theme. He spoke about Ataturk's main activity and ideas while ruling Turkey. He also appreciated positively the debate held on the ideas of Ataturk in Turkey today.

Azerbaijani parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva underlined that Ataturk introduced the idea of national statehood. She said Ataturk carried out this as there was not a good attitude towards Turks on the eve of the end of Ottoman state.

According to the parliamentarian, Turks are obliged to Ataturk for starting this mission. Other participants of the roundtable also delivered speech on the theme, APA reports.
