Armed guard transporting cash from Baku bank steals $140,000

According to the Lider television station, a driver and an armed guard picked up funds at a Baku branch of Kapitalbank and set off for the town of Ali-Bayramli, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Baku.

Along the way, and in contravention of bank rules, the driver stopped at a store to make a purchase, leaving the armed guard alone. Upon returning, he discovered that the guard had disappeared along with the money and a service weapon.

Local police were notified, and a search is currently underway. RIA Novosti
