Azerbaijan registered 398 twins and 9 triplets during the first quarter of 2007.

The State Statistical Committee told that the country registered 38,400 births during the first three months or 427 babies a day, of which 53.8% were male.

As of April 1, Azerbaijan's population reached 8.557 million, up 0.3% or 24,000 from New Year’s Day 2007.

During this period the country's relevant bodies registered 15,700 marriages and 2,100 divorces, APA reports.
